How to Work on Merit Badges in Troop 87

When you join the Boy Scouts, you can start to work on Merit Badges. It doesn’t matter what rank you are when you start. You just have to be registered with the Scout troop.

There are three ways to earn Merit Badges with Troop 87.

Boxwell

When you go to the Boy Scout Camp Boxwell in Lebanon Tennessee, in the summer, you can earn multiple merit badges in one week.

Scout Meetings

New Scouts can work on Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class requirements during scout meetings and at campouts.

Older scouts also can work on Merit Badges during the scout meetings. There are several offered during each meeting. Some are Eagle required, and some are not.

On Your Own

If there is a merit badge that you are interested in, just obtain the blue card and have it approved by the scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster in charge and and find out who teaches the badge that you are interested in, and you can get it from that counselor on your own. If there is no one in Troop 87 who can teach it, check with the Troop 87 advancement chair to see who in the District does teach the badge you are interested in taking.
