CALENDAR CHANGE
The planning session at Hillmont is scheduled for August 21 -22, 2009 instead of the 14-15, as listed in the calendar
1. Eric Mace had his Eagle Project Workday this past weekend, all went well, thank you to all who participated
2. Scouts who did their Tote ‘n Chip session with Dr. Petcu at Summer Camp, need to read the appropriate sections in their Scout Handbook, pp 77-85 before they can complete the requirements for the Tote ‘n Chip. Please see Dr. Petcu when you have completed the reading and he will present your card to you.
3. The Troop Committee will meet this Thursday night at 7 pm here at BMUMC in one of the upstairs rooms. The meeting was rescheduled because of a conflict last week. Mr. Frederick, our Troop Committee Chairman, invites all parents to attend and learn about the function of the committee and the Troop.
4. Our Philmont Crew is going to Amicalola Falls State Park in North Georgia this coming weekend to complete the final Philmont Training hike. The trail will be 8 1/2 miles long with 3000 feet of elevation change. We are still working on a lightweight portable air conditioning unit but preparations may not be complete in time! We had a brief meeting of the Philmont Contingent in the lobby immediately after the ITC’s
5. Upon reading the paper this past week, we would like to recognize two of our Scouts who took Gold Medals in the National Latin exam, Ian Montgomery for Latin 5 and Isaac Weintraub for Latin!
6. The National Leadership of the Methodist Church is having a meeting Saturday, July 11th, on the Belmont Campus and they have requested to have Uniformed Scouts in attendance. Please see Mr. Waters if you are interested.
7. We are entering the busy part of the summer and it is a good time to call everyone’s attention to making plans for 2010. Soon after the Philmont crews return from their treks, we will be going into the August Planning Session. In order to be prepared for the Planning Session, Scouts and adults need to start coming up with Program Ideas NOW for both the monthly outings as well as the Summer trip for all Scouts who are not going to the National Jamboree.
